is a provider of LTL open-deck freight transportation services and is seeking an Assistant Safety & Compliance Department Manager.

Job Profile Summary Assist with directing the organizational safety and compliance management process and provide overall support and guidance to the transportation operations.
The Assistant Manager coordinates with the Safety & Compliance Department Manager, as well as transportation operations leadership in crafting short- and long-term strategies in building a culture of safety and compliance within the organization.
The Assistant Manager oversees systems and activities to maintain oversight of regulatory compliance status; provides training and professional development for management and CMV operators; coordinates and helps manage the crash management process, third party claims process and insurance claims processes; conducts audits and inspections of the transportation safety management and compliance processes; and monitors metrics and indices reflecting performance.
Scope Reporting to the Safety & Compliance Department Manager, the Assistant Manager provides support, direction and guidance to company drivers, yard/fleet personnel and leadership.
The Assistant Manager interacts with and directly influences the behavior, performance and knowledge base of the company drivers and yard personnel.
Job Description Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations regarding transportation and workplace safety Monitoring driver qualification files and the hiring and selection process Assuring DOT drug / alcohol program is compliant with regulations Overseeing and implementing the elements of a crash management process, including coordination of reporting, investigation, documentation and management of incidents Gatekeeper for incident preventable decisions Developing materials and conducting training for drivers in the implementation of the safety management process Create and communicate the accident management protocol to drivers and other personnel Provide training for CMV operators Qualifications Bachelor Degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, Safety Engineering or related field 5
years transportation industry experience; 3
years safety management experience preferred Possess extensive knowledge of Word/Excel/PowerPoint Possess extensive knowledge of federal and state safety laws, particularly FMCSR and OSHA standards preferred Understand and apply meaningful operations and safety performance metrics Geographic Area Janesville, Wisconsin Low cost of living Low crime Within approximately 100 miles of Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison, WI Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting at desk and working on computer Must be able to conduct walking inspections Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
